How to manifest your brands potential

How to Manifest your brands potential

Ever had one of those moments that changed everything?

For me, it was my own wedding. I wasn’t a wedding photographer back then just someone who loved snapping candid shots of families and kids. But in 2011, I got married, and honestly, our wedding photos were a disaster.

Unflattering angles, awkward compositions, and a complete lack of the joy we felt that day. I remember thinking, no one should have to feel this let down by their own photos. And that’s when I decided to become a wedding photographer.

But here’s the thing: I had zero wedding photos in my portfolio.

So, I got creative. I started photographing my own wedding accessories: glasses of champagne (okay, it was tonic water with a splash of colouring) and all the little details that make a day special. I began talking about weddings, presenting myself as the wedding photographer I aspired to be.

Did I feel ready? Not even close. But I knew I just needed one couple to take a chance on me. And they did. That first wedding in Edinburgh pushed me out of my comfort zone, but I was determined to make sure they never experienced the disappointment I did.

And it taught me something profound: we’re not just capturing who you are right now; we’re showcasing the version of you that you’re growing into.

Think about it.

When you see yourself reflected as the confident, successful individual you’re striving to become, it makes stepping into that role feel so much more attainable.

So, if you’ve been waiting until you feel ready, until your business hits a certain milestone, until everything is perfectly aligned remember this: your future self is already out there, waiting for you to catch up.

Here are a few tips on how to Manifest your brands potential in your photos:

1. Clarify Your Future Vision

Take a moment to think about where you want to be in your personal and professional life. What qualities does this future version of you embody? Is it confidence, creativity, leadership, or perhaps a sense of calm authority? Having a clear picture of your aspirations will guide the direction of your photoshoot.

2. Align Your Wardrobe with Your Aspirations

Choose outfits that reflect the style and professionalism of the person you’re becoming. If you see yourself as a corporate leader, opt for tailored attire. If a creative entrepreneur, perhaps something more eclectic yet polished. The key is to wear something that makes you feel empowered and aligns with your future self. And don’t forget that if you need help – personal stylists can be such a good investment.

3. Select Environments That Reflect Your Goals

The setting of your photos is the number one thing that makes a difference to the feel of the photos. Consider locations that mirror where you see yourself. A sleek office space can convey professionalism, while a vibrant studio might showcase creativity. The backdrop should complement the narrative of your future self. But also think about the actual tone it’s setting… light and bright, colourful and fun, dark and moody. They’re really important steps to getting to your goal.

4. Incorporate Meaningful Props

Use items that symbolise your journey and aspirations. This could be tools of your trade, books that inspire you, or personal artifacts that hold significance. These elements add depth and context to your images. If you’re stepping into a more refined era then your props are going to need to reflect that.

5. Collaborate with a Photographer Who Understands Your Vision

Choose a photographer experienced in personal branding who can help translate your future goals into visual concepts. Their expertise will be invaluable in capturing the essence of the person you’re striving to become.

Remember, these photos are more than just images; they’re a visual representation of your journey towards your future self. Approach the process with intention and authenticity, and you’ll create powerful visuals that inspire both you and your audience.

Hi There!

Meet Maryanne

I’m a 40 (ahem something…) year old Yorkshire woman.

I’ve been self employed for 10 years (and a photographer for 18) and I totally understand how difficult it is to be visible in business.

Whether that’s because of a lack of self confidence, feeling a bit frumpy or the physical side effects of peri-menopause (hot sweats and forgetfulness anyone) – I promise you I’ve seen it all and still get great photos at every photoshoot.

I honestly feel so honoured when people book me, because they believe that I really want the best outcome for you. There’s no point having a fancy photoshoot if it doesn’t feel authentic to you.

My aim for every shoot is to get photos and video that you actually want to share… and I’ll be there in the side lines cheering you on!
