How to Plan Your Visuals for Your Next Launch.
Are you gearing up for a product launch or a new service unveiling?
Getting the right photos and content in general for the launch can dramatically increase its impact and success.
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to plan your visuals effectively, ensuring they not only capture attention but also convey your message clearly and powerfully.
Start with a list
Who doesn’t love a list?
List all the types of content you’re going to be sharing for the launch. Here are some ideas:
- Facebook ad: Photo and B-roll video
- Blog post series: Photos
- Email series: Gif from photos
- Instagram posts: Styled photos
- LinkedIn Posts: Professional headshots and work-in-action photos
- Instagram reels: Behind-the-scenes videos and process photos
Choose a style/location
Where are you going to do the photos?
Do you want photos where you’re sat at a laptop? Or working from the kitchen table? Could you use some plain background type photos so you can remove the background and include text?
Here are some suggestions:
- Office setting: Clean, professional look with you at your desk or in a meeting.
- Home office: More casual, relatable vibe, showing you in a familiar setting.
- Outdoor: Natural light and relaxed atmosphere, perfect for lifestyle brands.
- Studio: Control over lighting and background for a polished, versatile set of photos.
Plan Your Outfits
Your outfit choices should reflect your brand’s style and the message you want to get across.
Have a think about the following:
- Colours: Stick to your brand colours or neutral tones that complement them.
- Style: Professional, casual, or creative, depending on your brand persona.
- Accessories: Keep it simple and avoid anything too distracting – OR maybe you are known for your accessories. This is what works for you!
Prepare Your Props
Props can add context and interest to your photos. Think about:
- Work tools: Laptop, notebooks, coffee mugs, planners.
- Brand items: Products, packaging, business cards.
- Decorative elements: Plants, art, inspirational quotes.
Create a Shot List
A shot list will keep your photoshoot organised and ensure you get all the images you need. Include:
- Types of shots: Headshots, full-body, detail shots.
- Angles: Front, side, top-down.
- Actions: Working, laughing, holding a product.
Start with your list of the things you need (ie facebook ad etc) and create a list of what might work. I usually start having a look at Facebook and Instagram to see what other people I admire do. We’re just looking for inspiration.
Consider Timing
The actual time you do your shoot can affect the feel of your photos.
- Natural Light: Maybe shoot during the golden hours (early morning or late afternoon) for that pretty warm light.
- Schedule: Make sure you have enough time for setup, shooting, and any changes in outfits or locations.
Post-Production
After the photoshoot, we’ll need to edit your photos to ensure they look their best.
Consider:
- Editing Style: Consistent with your brand’s aesthetic (bright and airy, dark and moody, etc.).
- Professional Help: Hire a professional editor if needed to ensure top-quality results.
Plan Your Content Calendar
Once your photos are ready, plan out your content calendar. Schedule posts across your platforms to ensure a cohesive and well-timed launch.
