There are 5 things you can learn from this Epic Brand photoshoot with Laura Whittaker of Nest Mortgages.
Planning an epic brand photoshoot involves more than just turning up with a couple of outfits and hoping for the best… although I’ve had some really good shoots that started off that way 😂.
But, if you have a specific look, or a brand that you need photos for it totally makes sense to think about these 5 things.
Attention to detail, and creating a visual narrative that aligns with your brand is vital and it’s really not that difficult – in fact that’s the biggest thing I help you with (er…other than taking the actual photos obviously).
So let’s look at the insights gained from a epic brand photoshoot that we totally nailed, where every element was carefully considered.
Here are the five key takeaways that can elevate your next photoshoot to epic proportions.
Planned aesthetic
We planned the aesthetic of the shoot (neutral so that if branding changed, the tone wouldn’t be a problem). The cohesive visual appeal of the photoshoot owes much to the consistent aesthetic chosen – a neutral tone.
Sticking to a specific colour palette or tone throughout your photoshoot helps in creating a harmonious visual narrative. It allows your brand to maintain a distinct and recognisable look, contributing to a more polished and professional feel.
Neutral Colour palette
To tie in with this look we ensured that all the outfits were in a similar colour palette. We stuck to neutrals (with some black and blue jeans) so that there were many combinations so the photos looked different but were all tie together.
The magic of a photoshoot often lies in the variety of outfits showcased, it ensure that you get the most out of the shoot.
In this case, meticulous planning went into selecting not one or two but five distinct outfits. Each ensemble was carefully chosen to represent different facets of the brand’s personality, adding depth and diversity to the visual story
Natural Light Location
We choose a natural light location that worked perfectly for the overall look of the shoot. The choice of location can significantly impact the mood and quality of your brand photoshoot.
Opting for a natural light studio ensures that your images are bathed in soft, flattering light, highlighting your features and creating a timeless and elegant look.
Consider your brand’s identity and the story you want to tell when selecting the perfect location for your shoot.
Curated Props
Props were kept to a minimum, but we wanted a cosy but modern look. Elevate your brand photoshoot by incorporating carefully selected props.
In this case, the inclusion of candles, blankets, and books added a layer of warmth and personality. Props not only enhance the overall aesthetic but also provide opportunities to convey specific brand values or messages subtly.
Timing is crucial
We planned everything quickly (just 2 weeks between booking and shooting) which left little time for procrastination just lots of planning.
Laura recognised the need for new photos and promptly booked the session. Acting swiftly when it comes to scheduling your photoshoot ensures that you capture your brand in its current essence, reflecting any updates or changes and stops you dithering about when to do it etc (or is it just me that does that?)
