How to elevate Your Brand in 2024

The start of the year always makes me think I should be doing more, being more organised and generally just being better than the year before.

You’d usually find me frantically setting new goals and starting a fresh new journal (Ha… that lasts about 3 days) and depriving myself of any comfort or nice food.

It’s all a bit silly really.

I’ve literally just spent 3 weeks doing nothing but read, eat cheese and drink wine… (and not necessarily in that order), while appreciating puppy cuddles and late night films.

So this year I decided to ease into the new year.

I didn’t even look at my new journal and start thinking about this years goals until the 8th (although I did manage to sneak in a little b-roll video shoot last week as I hadn’t picked up my camera in a couple of weeks).

So my advice when it comes to elevating your brand is to keep it simple and get help when you can.

There are some really easy things you can do right now to elevate your brand in 2024… and I can help!

Update your Brand Photography

There’s no doubt that getting new photos can make a huge difference to your brand, and how you feel about your brand. It can give you the kick up the bum to do other things too… like being a bit more visible on LinkedIn.

But one thing that I don’t think I talked about enough. The fact that getting a photo you actually like of yourself can be so empowering. It can change how you see yourself and give you the confidence to be more visible in places you wouldn’t normally try.

Working with women who are self conscious in front of the camera is one of my favourite things. I totally understand how it feels, and I know the power of having decent photo myself.

Getting a photo of yourself that you truly love is an incredibly empowering experience. It’s not just about capturing a moment or a look; it’s about seeing yourself in a new light. When you finally see an image that reflects not just your appearance, but also your essence, your confidence, and your spirit, it can be transformative.

So if you need a little help, and your brand needs a bit of a boost, take a look at my one-to-one photoshoots or the next Branding Day

Consider adding more Video

Video is THE big thing right now… which if you’re anything like me… is pretty annoying.

If you thought I was awkward in front of the camera for a photo.. you should see me on video. I can’t help myself waving at the camera. So when I say I understand how much you don’t want to be on video, please believe me.

But, that was before I discovered how easy it is to be in B-roll.

No need to even look at the camera if you don’t want to. You can look fun, spontaneous, cute and oh so cool… without ever having to utter a single word.

These teeny tiny little videos can give a much needed glimpse into you are your business (and finally get you doing more reels) without too much hassle.

Although at this point you might be thinking back to the time you tried to do a video of you sitting at your computer typing, and manged to get THE most unflattering video of your double chin… it happens.

That’s why I’m doing the B-roll shoot days – if you need a little help… it might just be for you.

Get out an find your tribe

Networking can be hell if you don’t choose carefully.

I know. Before Christmas I went to a new networking group and it was the strangest experience of my life.

The person running it as just using it as their own personal forum to talk about themselves.

When it came time for each person to introduce themselves, this person kept jumping in and talking about themselves. It was really chuffing weird.

It made me feel very grateful for my little group at Visibility School, where there’s no pressure to connect all.

You’re all in the same boat… cacking yourself a bit cos you’re about to have your photo taken! Love can unite people but not as much as the joint feeling of being nervous. (although that soon goes once you’ve had a shoot!).

So if you’re ready to Elevate Your brand in 2024 and if you fancy a little bit of networking, some photos and some fun – check out VISIBILITY SCHOOL 2024 (there’s a link in the menu at the top of this page)!

Hi There!

Meet Maryanne

I’m a 40 (ahem something…) year old Yorkshire woman.

I’ve been self employed for 10 years (and a photographer for 18) and I totally understand how difficult it is to be visible in business.

Whether that’s because of a lack of self confidence, feeling a bit frumpy or the physical side effects of peri-menopause (hot sweats and forgetfulness anyone) – I promise you I’ve seen it all and still get great photos at every photoshoot.

I honestly feel so honoured when people book me, because they believe that I really want the best outcome for you. There’s no point having a fancy photoshoot if it doesn’t feel authentic to you.

My aim for every shoot is to get photos and video that you actually want to share… and I’ll be there in the side lines cheering you on!
