What to Do When Your Business Brand Colours Don’t Suit You

Discovering the perfect brand colours for your business is a journey of understanding the vision, mission, and values of your brand.
It’s about selecting colours that resonate with your target audience and reinforce your brand’s story.
But I’m certainly no expert in Business Branding, but I do know that quite often, the branding we choose for our business, just doesn’t suit us.
So what happens when those meticulously chosen brand colours don’t suit your personal style or complexion.
1. Find out what your colours are:
A great starting point is to actually get your colours done (with someone like Dawn Farr or Anna Mewes) and then at least you know what does suit you.
Then you can start looking at how to work with your brand colours.
2. Incorporate Neutrals:
If your brand colours are too bold or just don’t resonate with your personal style, consider incorporating neutral shades.
Neutrals like white, black, grey, or tan can provide a bridge between your brand colours and your personal style, making everything more cohesive.
Plus if you eventually make changes to your brand, you won’t need to change your photos quite as often (although up-to-date brand photos are always a good investment).
3. Accentuate with Accessories:
Another smart way to incorporate your brand colours without letting them overpower you is through accessories. This can be through scarves, jewellery, shoes, or even props in your branding photoshoots.
Instead of being dressed head to toe in your brand colour maybe include it in the location, or in some small props that will stand out.
4. Modify the Shades:
While the exact hue of your brand colour might not be your best shade, a variation of it could be perfect. For example, if a bright teal doesn’t suit your complexion, perhaps a deeper turquoise or a softer aqua will.
5. Communicate with Your Photographer:
A skilled photographer, especially one specialising in branding, can work wonders with lighting and editing.
Sometimes, it’s not about changing your brand colours but about capturing them in the most flattering way possible.
Remember, your brand is an extension of you, and the alignment of personal style with brand identity is key for authenticity and resonance. But we still want you to look and feel good in the photos!
