5 books I’m reading this summer

I always love choosing new books for my holiday’s and if you’re here, I’m guessing you love reading too!

Did you hear about Kitty Karr – Crystal Smith Paul

I’m right in the middle of this one. And after hearing such amazing reviews of it, I went against my tight Yorkshire nature and actually spent £10+ on an eBook and if I’m honest I’m not really sure what the hype is about? It was compared to Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and it’s definitely not as good as that. But I am enjoying it. It just feels very wordy (I know… it’s a book… but you know when the descriptions of everything are just really long winded). I’m hoping it improves and all comes together soon.

The Club – Ellery Lloyd

I’ve just finished this one and I really enjoyed it.

It’s easy to read and has lots of twists and a pretty good ending. It’s a perfect summer read as it’s straightforward and easy – would definitely recommend it.

Everybody writes – Ann Handley

I think everyone who writes knows Ann Handley and her book Everybody writes (or at least that was how it seemed when I kept seeing copywriters recommending it).

She’s updated her original book to be a bit more current and I have to say, as a business book it is really easy to read and interesting. I even think I will try quite a few of the suggestions for better writing!

Red Queen – Juan Gomez-Jurado

I loved this and didn’t want it to finish. Whether it was because I love any books set in a different country, the crime element of it or just the beautiful writing – it was just brilliant. Cant wait for his next one to come out featuring the same characters because I didn’t want it to end.

The Seven Sisters – Lucinda Riley

I would never normally read this type of book (or the 7 previous ones in the series) but I was just hooked after a friend recommended them. To set the scene I really dislike straight out romance novels. They make me cringe. But this was different. Again, it might have been because it was set in lots of different countries and there was a mystery running throughout all the books. I loved it.

Anyway – hope you enjoy the 5 books I’m reading this summer and if you have any suggestions feel free to drop me a message. I’m always on the hunt for something new.

Hi There!

Meet Maryanne

I’m a 40 (ahem something…) year old Yorkshire woman.

I’ve been self employed for 10 years (and a photographer for 18) and I totally understand how difficult it is to be visible in business.

Whether that’s because of a lack of self confidence, feeling a bit frumpy or the physical side effects of peri-menopause (hot sweats and forgetfulness anyone) – I promise you I’ve seen it all and still get great photos at every photoshoot.

I honestly feel so honoured when people book me, because they believe that I really want the best outcome for you. There’s no point having a fancy photoshoot if it doesn’t feel authentic to you.

My aim for every shoot is to get photos and video that you actually want to share… and I’ll be there in the side lines cheering you on!
