Where to find props for your branding photoshoot

You’ve booked your photoshoot, you’ve chosen a fab location, so now we’re looking at Where to find props for your branding photoshoot…

Using props in your photoshoot can be as simple or as complicated as you want. You can use lots of props or just rely on a few key items…

Your own business

Look around your business or workspace. See if there are any props or accessories that you can use in the photoshoot. This could include products, tools, or other items that are specific to your business.

Consider whether you have anything with your brand logo on it too. It could be as simple as a mug, pen or notebook but could be an interesting thing to add to your shoot.

Your own Home

Have a look round at home and see if anything works. Do you have a special mug, have you got equipment like a microphone that you use for podcasting, maybe you have some nice plants?

Anything that is “YOU” can be included and it’s not always necessary to run out and buy something new (although I know that’s exactly what I would do 🤣).

Second Hand shops

Second Hand shops can be a great source of props and accessories at a low cost. Look for items that fit the style or theme of your branding photoshoot especially books!

A selection of relevant business books could work, or if you are in a food based business you could use cookbooks.

Online marketplaces

It goes without saying that online marketplaces, such as Etsy or eBay, can be a good source of props and accessories. You can search for specific items or browse through the various categories to see what’s available.

I even did a blog post on essential props for Branding Photoshoots from Amazon.

Specialty stores

Visit specialty stores or props rental companies to find props and accessories that are specific to your needs. These shops may have a wider selection of items, but they may also be more expensive.

Rent or borrow

Consider renting or borrowing props or accessories from friends or colleagues if you only need them for a short period of time. This could even work if you were wanting to borrow a location…have any of your friends got amazing kitchens or gardens?

Cheap shops

Cheap shops like B&M, Home Bargains or even Pound shops are a great place to find props. Whether it’s stationary, mugs or accessories like cushions or blankets to add a little colour to your shoot, you’re bound to find something and it’s likely to be so much cheaper than elsewhere.

Overall, there are many places you can find props for your branding photoshoot, including your own business, second hand shops, online marketplaces, specialty stores, and by renting or borrowing from others.

Hi There!

Meet Maryanne

I’m a 40 (ahem something…) year old Yorkshire woman.

I’ve been self employed for 10 years (and a photographer for 18) and I totally understand how difficult it is to be visible in business.

Whether that’s because of a lack of self confidence, feeling a bit frumpy or the physical side effects of peri-menopause (hot sweats and forgetfulness anyone) – I promise you I’ve seen it all and still get great photos at every photoshoot.

I honestly feel so honoured when people book me, because they believe that I really want the best outcome for you. There’s no point having a fancy photoshoot if it doesn’t feel authentic to you.

My aim for every shoot is to get photos and video that you actually want to share… and I’ll be there in the side lines cheering you on!
