Why you get so much more than photos from Visibility School

When I first started doing Visibility School it was a bit of a gamble… I was meeting business owners all the time who knew they needed to be more visible, and needed photos of themselves for social media. But they didn’t have the budget.

Now, some people will tell you that it just means that they’re not your idea client. That the people who need your service will find you and the budget won’t matter cos they’ll just ‘GET’ you.

But I just had this nagging feeling that I was missing out on meeting some really great people, that needed help, that could potentially be my ideal clients in time.

And VISIBILITY SCHOOL was born.

But the most surprising thing that came out of Visibility School wasn’t anything to with the photos.

Networking

Its turns out we had created a micro networking group each month.

Visibility School gives you the opportunity to book all 12 shoots in advance, and some people do that and choose the same time every month. But other people leave it closer to the time, and fit it around their schedule.

It means that it’s unusual to have the same 4 people at any one shoot each time. So you get to meet four new potential business friends who might be able to help you. 4 new people who might recommend you. Or just 4 new business friends.

Stock photos

Depending on where we are for the shoot, I’ll often see something that inspires me, and could be useful for social media… so I snap away. Then I share them in a folder in part of our private Facebook group.

We’ve got all sorts of photos in there, including food and drink images, some health ones, occasional photos of the members that they don’t mind us using.

Confidence Building

As well as being a cost effective way to have a shoot every month, without the worry that you have to be absolutely perfect for the shoot…if you’re not feeling it one month then you’ve got 11 more shoots to gain confidence.

Peer-to-peer advice

Our Facebook group has become a safe place to share. Being more visible or in fact, being in business at all can be hard sometimes. Knowing you have a group of friends to share with (or vent) makes everything feel better.

Meet Maryanne

I’m a 40 (ahem something…) year old Yorkshire woman.

I’ve been self employed for 10 years (and a photographer for 18) and I totally understand how difficult it is to be visible in business.

Whether that’s because of a lack of self confidence, feeling a bit frumpy or the physical side effects of peri-menopause (hot sweats and forgetfulness anyone) – I promise you I’ve seen it all and still get great photos at every photoshoot.

I honestly feel so honoured when people book me, because they believe that I really want the best outcome for you. There’s no point having a fancy photoshoot if it doesn’t feel authentic to you.
