How to include your branding in your photoshoot
Today I’m joined by Brand Stylist and Web Designer Jen of Mint Sauce Media for a guest blog post on How to include your branding in your photoshoot.
So you’ve recently had your branding carefully created by a pro, and know you need some beautiful photos to make your new look feel complete – But how do you go about bringing your brand vibe to your photo shoot?
Here’s how!
Bring your brand values to your photoshoot
When doing your branding work it’s likely that your designer worked with you to get clear on your brand values; these are key to a photoshoot that feels authentically you.
Your brand values are the keywords that you would describe the look of your brand and the way that your clients will feel after interacting with your brand, really focusing on the emotion you want to evoke.
For example your brand may feel self assured, uncompromising and driven or elegant, romantic and soft.
Take a look at the words that sum up your brand essence when choosing the location for your shoot – the first brand may suit photos set in a glamorous restaurant or office setting, the second brand may suit a beautiful country home full of muted colours.
Are you able to wear an item of clothing that is in your main brand colour, or any of the supporting colours in your brand colour palette?
If not, do you have clothing that fits in with your brand values? What would suit your brand best? Bold statement pieces or a feminine flowy dress?
How to plan the images you need for your website
Start with a plan!
Write a list of all the pages you will need images for on your site. This can be a good guide for the types of photos you’ll need.
Think about how to tell the story of what you do and what your process looks like. If you can tell a visual story with your images it adds interest to your website. This may be close ups of your hands working on a project, behind the scenes type shots, details from your desk or the tools you work with.
What sets you apart from your competition? Can you capture this in your images to show your clients?
Your website does not need to be full of shots of you looking at the camera, it’s much more interesting if it doesn’t. So make sure you have a variety of different kinds of shots.
Your website will need shots with blank space to the side. When using images in hero sections of your site or overlaying testimonials etc. you will need images free from any busy details where you want to add text, so it remains readable.
Keep a consistent colour palette and tone to your images, this will make your website feel more coherent.
Think about images that you could use to display your work, branded shots showing a blank computer screen are useful, you can then go into Canva and drop in screenshots of your latest offers or work, these can be used on your site or on social media posts.
I hope this helps you to plan a photoshoot that is perfect for your brand and gives you a set of images to create a website that really makes an impact.
