20 Fabulous Essentials for your exciting Photoshoot

A few fun, but essential prop ideas to help you plan your photoshoot.

As with everything it comes down to personal choice. You can include as much or as little in your shoot.

But here are a few things that people have included in their shoots in the past:

Keep hydrated before the shoot

Water bottles are a potential way of including your branding colours in the shoot. And if nothing else, its really important to keep hydrated – so your skin looks good!

Pretty Planners are a must

Who doesn’t love a pretty planner? Bringing along your planner gives us the chance to get photos that don’t necessarily have you smiling at the camera.

Don’t be a mug

Absolutely love a good “mug” – another easy way of bringing a bit of personality to the shoot.

Write it all down

We’re going to be getting some photos of you ‘in action’ – and this is one of the ways we can show you working.

Mean business

Books are always a good prop, we can get photos of you reading or of the books themselves. Bonus points if they’re related to what you do or in your brand colours.

Magazines

You could be sat on a sofa, laid out on the floor or sat in the kitchen enjoying a cuppa and a read.

Let’s celebrate

Have you reached a milestone, or perhaps just want to celebrate your success?

We’re having a party

Balloons always look good in photos…but I’d advise going for more than you think to get this sort of look!

Fancy laptop

If you want to show that laptop lifestyle then definitely have a think about bringing your laptop along. And if its a pretty one too, all the better!

Pretty stationary anyone?

If you have a stationary addiction, like me, then you probably already have a load of pretty notebooks.

Take it easy

Its important to remember all the pretty little details too…like whats on your feet.

Somewhere over the rainbow

Its doesn’t have to be a rainbow umbrella but because of the changeable nature of the UK’s weather, its worth thinking about and maybe getting something in your brand colours?

Be Kind

These types of jumpers and t-shirts are popular for a good reason. They look great to photograph and they’re a good way of including your values in the shoot.

Make yourself heard

Podcasting is all the rage right now…its a lot like when blogging first started all those years ago. So if you have a podcast, including your microphone is a good visual way of showing what you do.

Hope all these props are useful, my best advise is to go on Pinterest and see what other people are using in their photos too!

PS ————-Should just point out these all link through to amazon, where I’ll get a little affiliate payment if you buy anything. But it’s more for ideas than anything else, as these days its much nicer to buy local from small business.

Hi There!

Meet Maryanne

I’m a 40 (ahem something…) year old Yorkshire woman.

I’ve been self employed for 10 years (and a photographer for 18) and I totally understand how difficult it is to be visible in business.

Whether that’s because of a lack of self confidence, feeling a bit frumpy or the physical side effects of peri-menopause (hot sweats and forgetfulness anyone) – I promise you I’ve seen it all and still get great photos at every photoshoot.

I honestly feel so honoured when people book me, because they believe that I really want the best outcome for you. There’s no point having a fancy photoshoot if it doesn’t feel authentic to you.

My aim for every shoot is to get photos and video that you actually want to share… and I’ll be there in the side lines cheering you on!
