I’ll be welcoming the next group to VISIBILITY SCHOOL over the next few weeks, so I thought I’d share some of the questions I get asked…

How long does it last & how does sharing the shoot work?

Each shoot lasts one hour and 4/5 business owners share the shoot.

For instance the last shoot at Leeds Town Hall, I met the first four ladies on the steps of the Town Hall and we did a loop around the area taking photos at different spots along the way.

For the shoot at the co-working space, we moved from room to room, taking photos of each person individually and then on to the next room

It allows you to get a real variety of photos and have time to interact with the other members.

How far in advance can I book my shoot time?

You will be able to book all 12 of your shoots as soon as you join. I use an online booking system to ensure you can book all of them straightaway (so you have some control over your own schedule) or up to 48 hours before the shoot.

On each day the sessions run

10am till 11am

11.15am till 12.15pm

12.30pm till 1.30pm

1.45pm till 1.45pm

Where do you do the shoots?

All the shoots take place in and around Leeds and Wakefield. For instance these are some of our previous locations:

  • March – Luxury house between Leeds & York
  • June – Temple Newsam in Leeds.
  • July – Leeds Town Hall
  • August – Field of long grass in Ossett.
  • September – Newmillerdam
  • October – Temple Newsam (formal gardens)
  • December – Co-working space
  • March – Oakwell Hall
  • April – Leeds Dock
  • May – Thornes Park, Wakefield
  • June – Hazelwood Castle, Leeds
  • July – Bar in Leeds
  • August – Co-working space (Wizu)

The locations are announced on the Facebook page 1 month before the shoot (if not sooner), with full details of location, parking and anything else you need to know.

What should I bring?

You don’t have to bring anything other than yourself, but if you want to bring props along that’s fine too.

Some of the shoot days will be themed, for instance we used an office set up for one shoot, and everyone brought along their own laptops, notebooks etc. For another shoot we used a luxury house that saw people bringing along food to have photos taken in the kitchen.

What should I wear?

Now that’s a difficult one… for some shoots you’ll probably be led by the theme of the shoot. Before each shoot I share inspiration in the PRIVATE FACEBOOK GROUP but when it comes down to it…its entirely up to you.

You can bring a change of outfit, but be aware we are sometimes in locations without changing facilities. I’d suggest just two changes as we have 4/5 people to photograph and can’t wait around.

Are the shoot locations easy to access?

For quite a few of the shoots you will probably need to be able to drive. Whist there are a number of shoots in Leeds City Centre, there will also be shoots at country parks, fields and other places.

Can I rearrange my shoot?

The Visibility school shoots only take place on two days a month, so I cannot change to a different day. However if you need to change your shoot time, let me know as soon as possible.

What if its raining/bad weather?

During the summer months we do lots of shoots outside to take advantage of the weather.  Unless the weather is really terrible the shoot will go ahead (so sometimes advisable to bring a brolly) but if there is heavy snow, strong winds or torrential rain we may have to change the day.  But will give you notice of the new date, and if you cannot attend you’ll be able to take 5 images from a previous or future shoot.

What if I am ill and can’t make it?

Due to the nature of the shoots, as mentioned previously it isn’t possible to do the shoots on a different day. You would be given the option of taking 5 images from a previous or future shoot.

What if I am unable to attend because we go into Lockdown again?

If the shoots can’t take place because of lockdown then we would simple add an extra shoot (or however many are missed) to the end of your 12 months.

How many photos do you take?

You can expect to get a choice of 5 photos from a gallery of at least 25 images. However often we’ll get many more than that.

Can I get more images than the 5 included in the package?

Yes you can buy images on an individual basis at £10 per photo and the whole gallery is just £35 (retouching is charged extra per photo if required on the whole gallery)

How soon will I get my images?

There is no set time, but usually within a week of the shoot (and more often within a couple of days) you will receive access to your gallery.

You get your own gallery which is added to as the year goes on. If you’re looking for more images, they are available throughout the year.
