So what are fluff images and do I need them?
We’ve all been that place where we didn’t have time (or inclination) to plan, or we’re just fed up with social media. The constant battle to find something to say, the trauma of searching for new images that suit your brand…
Do you stare at our phone knowing that you need to post something, but you don’t have a clue what it’s going to be. So you post something that doesn’t really feel right for your brand, but you know you’ve got to keep going.
Thats where “fluff” images come in really handy.
Basically they’re just pretty images that match your brand and can be used as filler without ruining the consistency of your visual aesthetic.
Stick a quote on it, or even just post one with a simple “Have a great day!” caption!
Where to find fluff images
There are so many places where you can some pretty amazing photos, and they’re free too. But what also comes with that, is hours spent searching for the right photo!
My favourites are Unsplash and Pixabay (although this one is from my membership stock photo site SOCIAL FILLER )
Personal branding
You could also get them when you have a Personal Branding photosession.
- Photos with your hands in them, maybe writing in a journal or planner.
- Your favourite mug or cup with a quote that really resonates with you.
- Favourite flowers in your brand colours
DIY Fluff images
Nothing beats grabbing your camera or phone and taking some of your own photos too.
Here are some ideas:
- Flowers in your garden
- Your favourite drink
- Your desk (or where you work at home)
- Sunsets, clouds and weather in general
- What you’re reading (magazines, books or ebooks)
Tips for better photos
Remember its all about the light.
If you can take the photos outside (certainly in summer) then choose a shady spot and snap away. You want to avoid the direct glare of sunlight!
If you’re inside choose somewhere that has some window light (and stand with your back to the window facing what you’re photographing) and the light will be lovely and soft. Even better if its a north facing window 🙂
