Branding is just a logo…and other misconceptions!

Todays blog post is brought to you by Fifi Mason, Personal Brand Strategist and all round lovely human being.

I met Fifi last month when she interviewed me for her blog (and managed to sneak in a few photos too!).

So over to Fifi…

What do you think when you hear the word branding?

“Branding is just a logo.”

There are many misconceptions and myths when it comes to branding and brand strategy.

3 Myths of branding explained

Here are 3 of the most common.

1. Branding is just a logo and design

Branding does involve developing the look and feel of a brand, but a great brand starts with strategy. Design and logos are a small part of the process.

2. Branding is marketing

Branding should come way before marketing. It helps you define who you are, identify your voice and vibe and understand your clients. Your brand strategy helps inspire your marketing!

3. Branding is deceptive and tricks you into buying something

Branding is in no way misleading. It’s about understanding the core problems and articulate it in a concise way that appeals to the right people.

It also gives your business meaning and purpose so that people can relate to you. I’d love to know what you think when you hear the word branding. Did you have any of these misconceptions?

Hi There!

Meet Maryanne

I’m a 40 (ahem something…) year old Yorkshire woman.

I’ve been self employed for 10 years (and a photographer for 18) and I totally understand how difficult it is to be visible in business.

Whether that’s because of a lack of self confidence, feeling a bit frumpy or the physical side effects of peri-menopause (hot sweats and forgetfulness anyone) – I promise you I’ve seen it all and still get great photos at every photoshoot.

I honestly feel so honoured when people book me, because they believe that I really want the best outcome for you. There’s no point having a fancy photoshoot if it doesn’t feel authentic to you.

My aim for every shoot is to get photos and video that you actually want to share… and I’ll be there in the side lines cheering you on!
