Today’s were finding out “ What you need to know about professional hair & make-up“.
And we’re joined by Lisa Hammond, make up artist for branding shoots! In fact the photos show Lisa’s professional hair & make-up For Kate Hutchinson of Secret Service Events.
I regularly work alongside Maryanne Scott AKA ‘The Branding Photographer’ as the hair and make up artist for professional business branding shoots.
My services are part of her ½ day package and I can also be booked for the shorter shoots too.
Experience is key
Maryanne and I work so well together as I know the experience, skills and eye she has for photography and she knows that when I’ve done the clients make up, her editing time is cut down significantly. As there is no need for the airbrushing and flawless filters to be used!
Through experience, people can be nervous when they’ve handed hair and make up over to someone else as it’s a very particular and personal thing. Everyone wants to look like themselves in photos but perhaps more of a polished version which is what I aim to achieve.
The appointment times I allocate are 1 hour for make up and 90 minutes if hair is also required. This is not because I’m applying LOADS of make up. Its because I want to get to know about your business; branding; personality and the overall image your trying to portray so these factors can all be incorporated into your look.
This is so important as these images reflect your business as a whole and first impressions are everything.
Occasionally the clients who don’t often wear make up have said it can seem like I’m using quite a lot of different products which I tend to do. But only the right amount of each. Less is more and perfect, long lasting make up is achieved by this process.
I tend to use a moisturiser followed by primer to hydrate and prepare the skin. Then a base colour which is usually a foundation or complexion control cream; concealer; highlighter, then a setting powder.
This creates a look that is natural yet flawless.
Here are a few other benefits of incorporating a professional make up artist into your branding photoshoot experience:
- Knowledge of how and where to apply the make up by highlighting and contouring the correct features. so it looks fabulous on camera
- I use premium products and know how much make up to apply without looking overdone. The base product I use has opti light technology which gives a soft focus in photographs. It also blurs imperfections so skin looks natural, flawless and promotes a healthy glow. It is also treatment based so works on perfecting the skin whilst you wear it. Win win!
- I am friendly, professional and calm and know how to put someone you at ease before your shoot
- I am proud to say that all of my make up kit is cruelty free. As well as being free from parabens, mineral oils and other allergens. I use skincare to suit all skin types in order to prep the skin to its optimum level for the most effective make up application
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting some amazing ladies since working with Maryanne.
