Today I’m looking at 5 ways to love your body just the way you are!
I meet women every week who struggle to see their own beauty. And they’re just normal woman like you and me.
We’re super quick to point out our own flaws, the stuff we don’t like, the things we think make us imperfect.
So here are my 5 tips to love your body…
Don’t wait
Stop waiting for tomorrow, waiting to lose (or gain) 10 pounds, waiting for your body to tone up or your hair to grow.
Chances are you won’t feel that much different once you get to that goal. So you’re just losing precious time and potential happiness.
Buy clothes that fit
This is one that I struggle with, and I don’t mean I go out and buy clothes several sizes too small but in my head if I have to buy anything over a certain size I’m gutted. And go in for some heavy self criticism.
Plus if it doesn’t fit, it won’t look good and you won’t feel confident. You’ll spend all your time adjusting the hems, unbuttoning trousers or pulling it down.
Self compassion
We all need to give ourselves a break sometimes. Just because you ate pizza last night doesn’t make you a bad person.
You’ve got this one amazing body, it carries you around, it does amazing things. Every time you think of something bad about your body, switch the thought to something you like about yourself.
Take more photos
This might seem a bit counter intuitive but if you get used to seeing how you look you’re unlikely to pick fault quite as much.
Look after yourself
Get plenty of sleep, eat well and a drink shit load of water, if you feel healthy, you’ll feel more positive whatever your body shape.
Excercise is a great way to feel better (I struggle with this myself) and apparently finding something you actually enjoy makes it easier.
So if running isn’t for you, try tennis. If the gym makes you feel uncomfortable try a dvd at home.
Comparison is the thief of joy
You’re unique.
You’re different to everyone else on this planet. We’re not all supposed to look the same. And comparing yourself to someone else just isn’t helpful. It’s ok that they look fab. But it doesn’t mean that you don’t look great too.
And you never know what other people are struggling with.
