Does showing your face help you book more clients?

Does showing your face help you book more clients? Or does the thought of posting photos of yourself can feel a little self indulgent.

Plus, as a society the images of women we tend to see most, are models or movie stars. How can we possibly post photos of ourselves if we’re not perfect?

If we don’t like how we look 100% of the time or if we just feel a little silly? (Like teenage girls who post 36 billion pouting photos of themselves every day…).

However, according to SproutSocial, Instagram posts with faces in them get 38% more likes than those without.

And even more than that, I have proof that Instagram posts with my face in them get better engagement than photos without. And I bet thats the same for you. Go look at your instagram insights now.

So even if that hasn’t convinced you, here are a few reasons you should try it!

How does Showing Your Face Help You Book More Clients

It builds trust.

We’re far more likely to trust someone who we feel like we know. Even if thats just because we’ve seen a photograph of them.

We feel like we know that person a little better. The words that they write as captions, become their words. Even if you haven’t met in person you can imagine them saying the words.

Plus, you get to show that you’re just like everyone else.

With fears & dreams and emotions. You get to be a little vulnerable and connect with people in a way that a faceless business couldn’t possibly do.

Its shows that you’re comfortable with who you are!

If you’re selling a service, perhaps as a coach then I bet when you meet people in person you are confident and comfortable with who you are. You know you can help them and that comes across easily in person.

But when people are thinking about whether to work with you. How do they decide? Sharing photographs of yourself shows the world that you’re confident in who you are.

And…don’t forget confidence is contagious. So when people see that you’re confident and comfortable with who you are, they want to know how you did it. How did you get to be this way, and how can they feel so confident too?

Its helps build brand recognition.

The final piece of the puzzle is obviously getting that all important brand recognition.

If you love female entrepreneurs as much as I do then you’ll notice that the people who do best are very recognisable. Think of Jasmine Star, Marie Forleo or Janet Murray.

They all share images of themselves over and over again. We recognise them and know what they stand for.

And pretty pictures aren’t the answer (a strange thing to say as a photographer perhaps). You don’t need to compete with models or movie stars.

You just need to be recognisable as you.

Hi There!

Meet Maryanne

I’m a 40 (ahem something…) year old Yorkshire woman.

I’ve been self employed for 10 years (and a photographer for 18) and I totally understand how difficult it is to be visible in business.

Whether that’s because of a lack of self confidence, feeling a bit frumpy or the physical side effects of peri-menopause (hot sweats and forgetfulness anyone) – I promise you I’ve seen it all and still get great photos at every photoshoot.

I honestly feel so honoured when people book me, because they believe that I really want the best outcome for you. There’s no point having a fancy photoshoot if it doesn’t feel authentic to you.

My aim for every shoot is to get photos and video that you actually want to share… and I’ll be there in the side lines cheering you on!
