Do you need professional team photos?

Do you need professional team photos?

Today I’m sharing the reasons you might need to rethink your current team photos and the benefits of professional photos.

Poorly lit, iPhone photos just won’t cut it.  If you’ve gone to the trouble of creating a website and social media presence then the photography needs to be top class.  But there are also a few other reasons why you should consider professional photographs.

Customers want to get to know you.

People buy from people. Its a well know fact that customers engage with real people rather than faceless organisations, so having images of your team as a whole (and individually) helps you to connect with your customers.

Good images stand out online

As I mentioned above, if you’ve created a website and you’re promoting yourself online it only makes sense to have images that are worthy of your brand.  Optimised photos can also help your website get found in the image results and perform better in the overall search results.

They can be used to build your brand on social media, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Google+ and more. They can also be featured in blog posts and articles – the possibilities are endless.

Offline, photos can be used in brochures and promotional materials of all kinds.

Once you’ve decided you need to update your photos there are a few considerations…

Location

Do you want your photographs to be taken inside or outside?  Do you have premises that needs to be in the photographs or are we going to all go somewhere special to get the perfect shot?

There are really are so many choices for locations but take a look at these over on Pinterest.

What should we wear?

This is one of those questions I often face.  If your staff wear a uniform then it’s quite simple.  Otherwise we’re going to have to decide on the look that you’re going for.  Do you need everyone to look formal, or is it a more relaxed office.  If it’s relaxed do you want everyone to wear a similar colour palette ? Or are you happy for everyone to choose for themselves?

What type of photos do you need?

Do you want the team to look professional but relaxed? Perhaps you want something playful and tongue in cheek?  This has to be decided before the shoot.

Do you need a formally posed image and then also images of the team working?  Perhaps you’re looking for fly-on-the-wall type photos that look natural (basically where no one is looking at the camera?).

Choosing the right brand photographer

Choosing a professional photographer to take your corporate team photos will help your business.  But choosing the right photographer is the key to getting great photos.  Its important to look at their portfolio to check you like the work they produce, but more than that, its important to feel comfortable with them. Its the photographers job to put everyone at ease, so that you get the best professional team photos.

Hi There!

Meet Maryanne

I’m a 40 (ahem something…) year old Yorkshire woman.

I’ve been self employed for 10 years (and a photographer for 18) and I totally understand how difficult it is to be visible in business.

Whether that’s because of a lack of self confidence, feeling a bit frumpy or the physical side effects of peri-menopause (hot sweats and forgetfulness anyone) – I promise you I’ve seen it all and still get great photos at every photoshoot.

I honestly feel so honoured when people book me, because they believe that I really want the best outcome for you. There’s no point having a fancy photoshoot if it doesn’t feel authentic to you.

My aim for every shoot is to get photos and video that you actually want to share… and I’ll be there in the side lines cheering you on!
