Today I’m sharing my top 10 business books for women.
Some are written for women and aimed at women, but many of them are for everyone (and I’ve even included a non business book that really inspired me).
So here are my top 10 business Books for women:
- Crushing It by Gary Vaynerchuk
This is a newish book, but honestly the best book I have read about social media in a long time (in fact probably since I read the original book Crush it). I love this one because it gives real life examples of people who have followed Gary’s advise.
- This Girl Means Business by Carrie Green
I didn’t expect to like this one. Its all very pink and I just thought it would be a bit fluffy (have you seen Female Entrepreneurs association) . Ok so in parts its a little fluffy for my liking, but there’s lots of good advise.
- Eat Pray Love (and then read Eat Pray Love made me do it) by Elizabeth Gilbert
I loved the original book Eat Pray Love (and the film if Im honest), I read it at the time I was about to quit the 9-5 and become a full time photographer. It doesn’t give any business advise but made me very happy and inspired to do it! So when the second book Eat Pray Love Made me do it came out I really enjoyed that too. Real people sharing things they had been inspired to do, because of the book.
- Worth Every Penny by Sara Petty
On first look at this book you might think it’s only going to be useful if you’re a photographer, but really the things she talks about refer to all small businesses. Its all about creating a really great experience for your clients.
- You are a badass at making money by Jen Sincero
I read this one and fully expected it to be a very shouty American lady telling me how much of a bad ass I am. But I was pleasantly surprised. I’m often put off by books that talk about mindset when they’re just aimed at women. They often lapse into “woo woo” cosmic thinking…not my thing at all. But this one was very good. The thing I remember most about it was how she talked about getting images of her self for her website and worrying that all her friends would think she was full of herself, and how she got over this.
- Get Rich Lucky Bitch by Denise Duffield-Thomas
I have to admit I read this because of the name. And I really enjoyed reading about how Denise applied the law of attraction to her business but in a non mystical way. Its all about taking action!
- Better than before by Gretchen Rubin
Habits and how we keep them, or why we don’t is a topic close to my heart…serial dieter… So I loved the straightforward advise in this book.
- The One Thing by Gary
Not the most exciting of books to read (I do love a good story running through a book) but the idea behind it is great. Whats the one thing you should concentrate on?
- The Go Giver by Bob Burg and John David Mann
You cant underestimate the power of giving without expecting to receive anything in return…I liked this book a lot. easy to read and with a good story running through it so it doesn’t feel like you’re reading a business book.
- The Monk Who sold his ferrari by Robin Sharma
You’d be forgiven for thinking this isn’t a business book at all… but it is and a clever one (I think). It uses a fictional story to give you lessons on business and life. Its very American he he. But the story kept me hooked to the end.
A few more Business books for women
Girl Boss by Sophie Armorouso which I only left off the list because I read it just as her business went into receivership and it sort of soured it for me, though I believe she had already left the business.
4 Hour Work Week – when I was thinking of working for myself I loved all the advise from Tim Ferris and still go back to this book sometimes.
The Universe Has your Back by Gabriel Bernstein is one that I struggled to finish. Definitely not my taste but I know lots of people think its brilliant.
Thanks for reading
So hopefully this will give you a few new Business books for women to add to your list.
